An independent body monitoring the peace deal between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front says the proposed Bangasamoro Basic Law (BBL) is key to combatting extremism in the south.
Their annual report, released Friday, asserts the need to pass the BBL — specially as the country struggles to deal with the threat of ISIS, as shown in the Marawi siege.
Member Huseyin Oruc notes that it would be very important for Congress to pass the BBL so that extremist groups “cannot find any floor on the ground, frustration of the people will be removed, and the hope of the people can come.”
