The Third Party Monitoring Team (TPMT) held its 37th monitoring session in the Philippines from 6 to 14 February 2020. During the two-week session, they were able to visit Cotabato City (from 6 to 7 February 2020), Metro Manila (from 10 to 11 February 2020 and on 14 February 2020), and Marawi City (from 10 to 11 February 2020).
In Cotabato City, the TPMT met with the MILF Peace Implementing Panel led by Chair Mohagher Iqbal. We also met with key officials of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), particularly Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua, Bangsamoro Parliament Deputy Speaker Hatimil Hassan and Secretary-General Raby Angkal, MP Marjanie Mimbantas, Minister Eduard Guerra, and Minister Mohammad Yacob. For the GPH-MILF mechanisms, we met with officials of the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB).
In Manila, we met with the GPH Peace Implementing Panel led by Chair Usec. David Diciano. We also met with Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. of OPAPP, BTA Interim Chief Minister Al Haj Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, officials of the Delegation of the European Union, and officials of the Swiss Embassy and Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) Chair Mô Bleeker.
In Marawi City, we met with officials of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM). We also held separate consultations with internally displaced persons and civil society organizations (CSOs).
